▌ RG· RESPONSIBLE GAMING
GAMBLING IS ENTERTAINMENT. NOT INCOME.
This page sets out the position of Match Report on safer gambling. It's not an operator's policy. It's the editorial line of an information site that links out to regulated operators.
HOW WE COVER SAFER GAMBLING
Every operator we list is required to hold a UKGC remote licence — which carries explicit safer-gambling obligations. We assess each one on how visibly and easily it surfaces those tools — deposit and loss limits, reality checks, time-out, self-exclusion. Operators that bury those controls lose ground in our scoring.
RECOGNISING WARNING SIGNS
Patterns to watch: chasing losses; spending more time or money than planned; gambling to escape stress, anxiety or low mood; lying about gambling activity to people close to you; feeling that you cannot stop. None on its own is a diagnosis. Together they are signals worth taking seriously.
PRACTICAL SAFER-PLAY STEPS
Decide a budget before you start. Set time limits and stick to them. Never play with funds intended for essentials or borrowed money. Take a break when you notice frustration or fatigue. Use the deposit and reality-check tools your operator provides.
SELF-EXCLUSION
GAMSTOP is the UK-wide free self-exclusion scheme. Once you register, all UK-licensed operators must block your accounts for the period you choose (six months, one year, or five years). Most operators also offer their own internal self-exclusion in addition to GAMSTOP.
FREE, CONFIDENTIAL SUPPORT
GambleAware, GamCare and Gordon Moody all offer confidential help in the UK — including 24/7 helplines, online chat and treatment programmes. The National Gambling Helpline (operated by GamCare) is a good first call.
AFFECTED OTHERS
Support is available for partners, parents, friends, colleagues affected by someone else's gambling. GamCare and GambleAware both publish dedicated guidance, and several charities run support groups.
